The extension looks we’re interested in for 2026 have one thing in common: the added hair blends into the person wearing it. That might mean a little more fullness through the ends, a mid-length style with softer movement, or longer hair with colour that matches all the way through.
At Fluff in LoDo Denver, we plan the length, density, colour, placement, and upkeep together. A trend can be a useful starting point, but your natural hair and everyday routine guide the final choice.

Fullness that fits your natural hair
You don’t have to add dramatic length to enjoy extensions. If you like your current haircut but want fuller ends or more shape, a smaller change may be enough. Collarbone-to-mid-back lengths can also give you room to style without committing to an ultra-long look.
Your artist will look at your natural density, layers, and how you wear your hair up. The amount of hair and its placement should suit your starting point, rather than simply copying the fullness in an inspiration photo.
Colour that belongs together
Extension hair can look like a close match in the package and still stand out beside your own hair. Dimensional blonde, brunette balayage, copper, grey blending, and a shadow root all need more thought than choosing a single shade from a colour ring.
We may plan your natural colour first, tone the extension hair, or adjust the target shade to bring the two together. Bring photos of the tone and contrast you like, and tell us about your previous colour. For an example of a combined colour and installation plan, see Veronica’s dimensional colour and extensions at Fluff.
Choose the method around your hair
Hand-tied wefts and individual I-tip extensions offer different ways to add hair. Wefts can build fullness through larger sections, while individual tips allow more targeted placement. Neither is the right answer for everyone.
Discuss your hair’s density, scalp comfort, styling habits, and the upkeep you can commit to before choosing a method. Your artist can explain the attachment, placement, and maintenance involved. Our guide to extension lifespan and maintenance gives you useful questions to bring to the appointment.
Think about how you’ll wear the result
A finished style should work beyond the salon photo. Tell us if you regularly wear a ponytail, work out, swim, spend weekends outdoors, or prefer to let your hair air-dry. Those details help us discuss length, placement, styling, and care.
If your routine includes mountain trips or lots of time outside, ask how to care for your particular extension hair between visits. Our guides to hard water and hair and hair care in Denver’s dry climate cover related care questions.
Plan the upkeep and total investment
Ask what your first appointment will include: the hair, installation, colour matching, and any cutting or finishing. Then discuss the cost and timing of maintenance visits, colour refreshes, and eventually replacing the extension hair.
There is no single maintenance schedule for every method and client. Your artist will explain when to return, how to brush and style your extensions, and which products suit the hair you’re wearing. Keep that plan in mind when choosing both the method and the amount of hair.
