Holiday Hair Extensions in Denver | Volume That Photographs

Holiday Hair Extensions in Denver | Volume That Photographs

Holiday hair extensions in Denver are an event-specific service, not a permanent change. Most clients book a tape-in or hand-tied weft install in early November specifically to cover the four to six weeks of corporate parties, family photos, holiday weddings, and New Year events that pile up between Thanksgiving and the first week of January. Done well, the extensions add volume that photographs beautifully under low winter light and pull out cleanly in early January with no commitment carried into the new year.

This is what our extensions specialists at Fluff Colour Salon walk holiday clients through. The right method, the right timing, the right install length, and what to expect through the season.

Why holiday extensions are worth booking

Three factors make holiday season specifically extension-friendly. The events compress into a short window, so the install actually gets used. The lighting at most holiday events is dim or candlelit, which is the most flattering possible context for extensions. And the styles people want for the season (waves, half-up, sleek pony) all benefit from added length and density.

Clients who try extensions for the holidays and decide to keep them are common. Clients who try them, enjoy them, and pull them out in January are equally common. Either outcome is fine.

The right method for a temporary holiday install

Tape-ins are the standard holiday choice. Tape-ins install in 60-90 minutes, can be removed cleanly in 30-45 minutes, and add the right level of volume for most holiday styling. They are also the most cost-effective method for a 6-8 week wear cycle.

Clip-ins for one-night events. If you only have one or two big events in the season and do not want a wear-cycle commitment, clip-ins give you single-night length and volume. We can custom-colour-match clip-ins to your hair so they read as part of your hair rather than an addition.

Hand-tied wefts for clients who want maximum density. Wefts add more density than tape-ins. The trade-off is a longer install and a more involved removal. Worth it if your hair is naturally fine and the holiday photos genuinely matter.

When to book your holiday install

Mid-October through early November is the booking window. Two factors push us toward earlier installs.

First, the bond points need a few days to settle. An install on the day of an event will look beautiful but will move slightly over the next 48 hours, which is not what you want photographing. Booking 7-10 days before your first event gives the hair time to settle into final position.

Second, our holiday extension calendar fills early. By mid-November, most of our extensions specialists are fully booked through December. Clients who book in October have full choice of stylist, install time, and any colour service that pairs with the extensions.

Maintenance during the holiday wear cycle

The maintenance schedule is the same as any extension wear cycle but compressed in time. Two to three washes a week, a hydrating mask weekly, brush from ends up daily, sleep in a loose braid. The Denver-specific addition for holiday installs is a UV-protective leave-in for any ski-trip days, since extensions oxidize fast under reflected snow UV. For more on extension maintenance, see our extension maintenance guide.

Removal timing

Most clients book a removal appointment in early to mid-January. Six to eight weeks is the natural wear cycle for tape-ins, which lines up cleanly with mid-November to early January. Clients who decide to keep extensions just rebook a move-up appointment instead of a removal.

Booking holiday extensions at Fluff

Holiday extension consultations are 20-30 minutes and cover method, length, density, colour-match, and pricing. We typically book the consultation and install in the same week so the holiday calendar stays clean. The install includes a colour match if needed and a brief styling lesson so you can recreate the look at home.
