Everything Starts with a Conversation
A colour consultation is the most important part of your colour journey. It is where your colourist gets to know your hair, understands your goals, and develops a plan to achieve them. If you have never had a professional colour consultation before, here is what to expect at Fluff in Denver.
What to Bring
Bring inspiration photos — even if they are not exactly what you want, they give your colourist a starting point for the conversation. Screenshots from social media work perfectly. Also bring any relevant history: what products you use, any box dye or chemical treatments in the last year, and any known allergies.
The Assessment
Your colourist will examine your hair’s current condition, natural colour, texture, and density. They may check your hair’s porosity and elasticity. This is not a judgment — it is information gathering to ensure the best possible result.
The Conversation
This is where you discuss what you want, what you like and do not like about your current hair, and your lifestyle. How much maintenance are you willing to do? How often can you realistically visit the salon? Do you heat-style daily or prefer low-effort routines? Honest answers lead to better colour plans.
Realistic Expectations
Your colourist will be honest about what is achievable in one session versus what requires multiple visits. They will discuss maintenance requirements, product recommendations, and approximate costs. No surprises — everything is transparent before any colour is mixed.
No Pressure
A consultation does not obligate you to book a service. It is an opportunity to meet your colourist, ask questions, and make an informed decision. We would rather you feel completely confident before committing than rush into something you are uncertain about.
