Before we get to the solutions, it’s essential to understand what might be causing your hair loss. Some common culprits include:
Hormonal imbalances: Pregnancy, menopause, and conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) can cause hair loss due to hormonal fluctuations.
Stress: Both physical and emotional stress can lead to hair shedding, known as telogen effluvium.

Alter Ego Italy is a premium line from Italy that utilizes natural extremely high-quality ingredients in addition to utilizing fermentation and probiotics that are also sustainably sourced and organic (wherever possible). This line has an outstanding line of products in its Scalp Ritual collection, that I believe are gentle and are an excellent choice for both hair and scalp health. A happy scalp is essential I believe, for healthy hair and for preventing hair loss.
Nourish Your Hair from Within
Maintain a balanced diet rich in essential nutrients like iron, zinc, biotin, and omega-3 fatty acids to support hair growth. Consider taking supplements if your diet is lacking in these crucial nutrients. Diet is such an often overlooked element of hair health, that I feel it’s imperative to emphasize it here. Stay away from highly processed foods, GMO, seed oils, and in general a high-carbohydrate, low nutrient diet. Instead my personal recomendation is a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, fresh (wild-caught) fish and pasture raised meats (though a vegan or vegetarian diet can also be easily embraced). I used to eat a lot of fake meat products, such as Beyond Burgers, before understanding how the seed oils and highly processed ingredients were effecting my body.
Another solution that a few of my clients has told me about is called LifeWave, which are patches that are supposed to activate stem cell activity. While I can neither confirm or deny their effectiveness, because I have heard so much about these patches, I did want to mention them here so you could do your own research. Why Olaplex Might Not Be the Answer to Your Hair Prayers
While Olaplex has undoubtedly helped many people with their hair woes, it’s essential to remember that it might not be the perfect fit for everyone. Here are some potential drawbacks to keep in mind:
One size doesn’t fit all: Just like our favorite pair of jeans, what works for one person might not work for another. Some people might see more damage or no significant results from Olaplex treatments, especially if their hair damage is due to reasons other than broken disulfide bonds.

While we like the in-salon K18 treatment, the at-home version in my opinion has given clients mixed results. We think it might be due to users having too much room for error, leading to damage and breakage if not used properly. Right now, we’re big fans of the EgoBond system from Alter Ego Italy. We’ve seen fantastic results with the in-salon EgoBond treatment. The EgoBond at-home system that is designed for clients is not currently available in the USA, only in Italy and the European market. Fingers crossed that this product line reaches the USA soon, as we believe it’s a gentle option with outstanding results for clients with severe damage caused by over-coloring or heat-styling.
